Noorrahman Rahmani

Country Director,

Before becoming Country Director, Noorrahman Rahmani worked as Director of Operations with IWPR Afghanistan, and prior to that Director of Finance. He joined IWPR in 2005. In addition to his work for IWPR, Rahmani is a senior analyst on South Asia for TruBridge Consulting. Earlier in his career, he worked as administrative specialist and translator for Kellogg, Brown & Root.

Mina Habib


Mina Habib joined IWPR Afghanistan in 2010 as a reporter. During her career with IWPR, Mina has received several national and international awards for her journalistic work and for her courage as a female journalist covering issues in a male-dominated country. Despite several threats to her life, Mina remains committed to her profession. She graduated from the journalism faculty of Kabul University in 2007, and before joining IWPR, worked as a reporter for several Kabul-based newspapers.

Farhad Ahmadzai

Senior Administrative & HR Officer,

Farhad Ahmadzai joined IWPR in August 2013. Prior to joining IWPR, Mr. Ahmadzai served in technical and administrative capacities in Information & Communication Technology and Construction companies across Afghanistan since 2005.

Hafizullah Gardesh

Senior Local Editor,

Hafizullah Gardesh has worked for IWPR’s Afghanistan office since its inception, beginning as a reporter and moving into a senior editorial position within a few years. As senior Dari and Pashto editor, he manages the Afghan Recovery Reports, which have been a hallmark of IWPR programming in the country over many years. Gardesh is fluent in Dari and Pashto, and holds a degree in Pashto literature.

Mohammad Munir Mehraban

Afghan Investigative Journalism Projects Manager/Editor

Mohammad Munir Mehraban joined IWPR Afghanistan in 2010 and is Investigative Journalism Projects Manager/Editor. He has been a leading media trainer/editor since 2002 with organisations like Internews, Pajhwok news agency, the Centre for International Journalism and IWPR. Prior to this, he worked as a reporter for two Kabul-based newspapers.

Safia Omari

Finance Manager,

Safia Omari joined IWPR in June 2013 as Finance Manager. Ms. Omari worked for national and international aid organizations in Afghanistan in Financial, HR and Program Areas for last 12 years.
